The Souvenir Napoléonien was founded in 1937 and is the largest and oldest Napoleonic society in Europe. It received registered charity status (reconnue d’utilité publique) by a ministerial decree dated 5 November, 1982.
The mission of the Souvenir Napoléonien is to study and promote interest in the imperial family and the periods in which they lived, namely, the French Revolution and the two French empires. In this way, the society promotes the study of the institutions, sites, events and people who played in these periods.
